Academic Consultations
One of the many features of our new library will be an innovative collection storage model that combines open access shelving with high density storage provided by an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS). Read more about the Collection storage model.
To assist in the process of identifying those items that will be located in the ASRS and those items that will be available on the open shelves, a set of a Collection Storage Principles was developed. These were approved by Library Committee in August 2008.
Between October 2009 and July 2010 we will be consulting with academics and researchers from across the University to ensure that the application of these Principles meets the learning, teaching and research needs of the University.
This consultation process will be completed by July 2010 so that we can finalise preparation of the collection to be moved into the new Library.
The timeline below lists those sections of the collection that have been barcoded and tagged ready for consultation, and the approximate schedule of consultation with each area. We have kept in mind that some parts of the collection will be relevant to more than one discipline.
