How to Find Theses
The following resources provide access to Theses indexes and databases in the Library.
Macquarie Theses (PhD, Masters & Honours research)
Most Masters and Doctoral Dissertations submitted at Macquarie University are kept in the Library and catalogued as part of the Thesis Collection. This collection is housed in a separate area, along with all of the other restricted access collections. Full details of all items in the Thesis Collection are listed in the Library catalogue. To search by topic area use Keywords (Boolean) on the Library catalogue Quick Search. Type your topic(s), select Theses at the Quick Limit and click Go.
All access to theses must be made through the Information Desk located on Level 2. Photocopying is possible, but must be carried out by Library staff - no individual copying is permitted.

Australian Digital Theses Program
Australian University theses at PhD and Masters level available in full text via the web. Macquarie University will be joining this program.
Education Research Theses
A database of Australian higher degree theses covering the discipline of Educational Studies. Contains over 10,200 records for theses dated from 1919. Records for years from 1978 contain abstracts. Some records provide links to full text of theses. The database is maintained by ACER Cunningham Library and was updated in May 2002.
Index to Theses Accepted for Higher Degrees at Universities of Great Britain and Ireland
The Macquarie subscription to the print version allows on campus access to the electronic format of the index and abstracts from 1970 at http://www.theses.com/

Libraries Australia
This database provides a listing of resources, including books and theses, held by Australian libraries. Theses are not necessarily Australian, and may include requested titles ordered from overseas and added to Library collections.

NDLTD
Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD) Over 400,000 electronic theses and dissertations from over 80 institutions worldwide (mainly from the United States).
NUS Theses Collection
The NUS Theses Collection (THESES), produced by the National University of Singapore Library, is a bibliographic database that indexes theses submitted to the University of Singapore (NUS) and its predecessor institutions, and which are deposited with the Library.
Proquest Digital Dissertations
The collection of selected masters theses and doctoral dissertations, previously entitled Dissertation Abstracts, are available through ProQuest.
The theses are primarily from North America, Europe and a limited number from Australia. Entries are citations and abstracts, for theses from 1997 onwards there is a 24 page preview available. Full copies of theses, from 1861 onwards, can be ordered from the site using a credit card.
Theses Canada Portal
This Library and Archives Canada portal contains Canadian theses and dissertations with access to free full-text electronic theses covering the period from 1998 to 2002. The portal has additional information for students and universities, including interlibrary loan information. To purchase a thesis that's not available digitally you still need to contact ProQuest.
