Q: What is my Campus Card?
A: Your Campus Card is your student or staff photo ID card. It is issued when you enrol and you will need it to:- access services at the Student centre
- borrow books from the Library
- display on your desk during class tests and examinations
- show as identification to authorised staff on request

A: You will need to enter your username and password to access some of
our electronic resources from both on and off campus.

Q: Can I have access to databases and E-Journals if I am not on campus?
A: Students and staff of the University have access to electronic
resources while off campus. Use your username and password to login.

Q: I have logged in, but am still being asked for a password for some services. Why?
A: Remote access to a small number of databases requires individual passwords. For access to these databases and for any other assistance Ask a Librarian, online, over the phone or in person.Q: How do I connect to the Wireless network in the Library building?
A: You will need to have a laptop with wireless capability.
When you turn on your computer, you will receive a message telling you that your
computer has found the network. Macquarie University web pages do not require a
usename or password. Simply connect to the network and open a browser.
To access web pages outside of the Macquarie University network you will need
to login using your Student-ID and MyMQ password.

Q: What is a ‘database’?
A: Databases help you find journal articles on a particular subject. They allow you to search by subject, title, author and/or keywords. Many journal databases will instantly retrieve the full-text of articles however sometimes you may only have access to an abstract describing the article content. If this is the case we can help you - Ask a Librarian, online, over the phone or in person.
Q: How do I add value to my card for photocopying or printing in the Library?
A: Value can be added to your Campus Card using the card dispensers located in the main Photocopying Room (level 3) and in the Reserve photocopying room (level 2). The machines accept $1 or $2 coins, and $5, $10, $20 or $50 notes. Money can also be transferred from your bank account or credit card via the EFTPOS terminal.
Q: How can I get a card for photocopying if I don’t have my Campus Card or I am not a MQ student or staff?
A: You can buy a photocopy card for $2 from the card dispenser in the Photocopying Room, level 3. You can then add money to it.Q: Are there fines if I return something late?
A: Fines apply for overdue items and an outstanding fine of $50 or more
will prevent you from borrowing further materials.

Q: Can I book a group study room?
A: Group study rooms are allocated on a first-in basis.Do not reserve a room by leaving your belongings on the tables. Items left for longer than 15 minutes will be placed on the floor so that other students can use the room.
Level 1 of the Library is now a student learning lounge with group study spaces, lounges, facilities to practice your presentation, and drink and food vending machines.
