A database of over 3,000 pioneer doctors, from the 1700s through to 1875. The site covers Australian medical history, with a database of medical pioneers and educational background material (from medical registers, shipping records, newspapers, pictorial archives, and early medical publications). The AMPI website was developed and funded by the State Library of Victoria through Vicnet and Victoria's Virtual Library.

The Tiger and the Thistle: Tipu Sultan and the Scots in India
An indispensible guide to the role of Scottish soldiers and administrators in the establishment of the British Raj in India - as seen through the tumultuous events surrounding the final defeat of Tipu Sultan, Rajah of Mysore in 1799. Lachlan Macquarie took part in the campaigns in Mysore in 1791-1792 and 1799 and left his own eyewitness accounts of these campaigns. The Tiger and the Thistle website provides a detailed historical and pictorial investigation of the links between Tipu Sultan and the Scots in India during the period 1760-1800. Based upon major public exhibition held at the National Library of Scotland, Edinburgh 29 July - 3 October 1999.
