Borrowing Agreement with Macquarie University Library
Introduction
This agreement is for a borrowing scheme at Macquarie University Library.
Eligibility
High School students studying the New South Wales Higher School Certificate
Extension History course are eligible under this Agreement. Students
should be in good standing with their school libraries and be recommended by
their schools.

School Indemnity Clause
Each School will indemnify its own students for unpaid fines, loss or damage
for material borrowed from Macquarie University Library. Any student having
outstanding debts and/or overdue items at Macquarie University Library:
- will be blocked from borrowing until items are cleared and fines paid
- may be subject to appropriate action under their schools Welfare and Discipline Policy
Application Forms
Application forms are available from the principal or delegated officer at each school.
The application form must be completed and signed by the student, a parent or guardian, and the school principal.
Charges
Student will be charged an annual registration fee of $25.00 (inc. GST).
Method of Payment
Students should pay their registration fee to their school. Cheques for payment
should be made out to Macquarie University Library. Schools are encouraged to
collect individual student registration fees and to then forward application
forms and payment for all eligible students to:

Library Associates Cards
Each student will be issued with a Library Associates photo ID card. Applications are processed by Resource Access, Library. Please note: The library will email you to confirm that your application has been processed. If you do not have access to email, please phone the library 9850 7507 to check if your application has been processed. The card entitles holders to borrow a maximum of 5 items for 2 weeks.
Use of Library Collections and Services
The following collections and services are excluded under this Agreement:
- Borrowing from Reference, Reserve, Rare Book, Closed Access, Thesis and Brunner collections.
- Borrowing serial publications ie: journals, magazines.
- Remote access to library databases.
- Document Supply services.
Borrowing Conditions
- To borrow items from the collection, students MUST have their Macquarie University Library Associates card.
- Borrowed items must be returned on or before the due date to the Return Chutes located outside the library
- Fines will be imposed for any item returned after the due date.
- Fees will be charged for any items lost or damaged.
- Students will be blocked from borrowing until items are cleared and fines paid.
- Borrowed items may not be renewed.
- Reservations (holds) may not be placed on items on loan.
- Any fines imposed by Macquarie University, will be met by the borrower.

Term of this Agreement
This agreement will begin on 20 October 2001.
