Campus Card - Uses
Identification
The Campus Card provides a high quality colour photograph, student number, barcode and signature which can be used to identify students of the University. Students will need to carry their campus cards for these reasons:
- To obtain services at the Student centre
- To borrow books from the Library
- To display on your desk during class tests and examinations
- To show identification by authorised staff when requested
Transport Concession
Full time students are entitled to transport concessions. If you qualify you will have a transport concession sticker attached to your card at enrolment time. If you do not qualify at the start of the year, but change to full time status then you should enquire at the Student Centre about obtaining a transport concession sticker.
Transport concession stickers carry an individual serial number and are valid for one year only. When you re-enrol you must obtain a new concession sticker which will be valid for that year.
Transport concession stickers are supplied by the NSW government. Any enquiries about these stickers should be directed to the State Rail Authority or the Urban Transit Authority.
Computer Authentication
Some computer networks on campus may use certain elements of the barcode Campus Card to enable you to access the computers. Please direct any enquiries regarding login access, to the IT Help Desk and then to the appropriate systems administrator rather than Campus Card staff.
Note that if a new Campus Card is issued to you to replace a lost card, then the barcode will be changed. It may take some time to update your barcode on various localised systems depending on how often their systems are synchronised with the Campus Card system.
Reloadable Debit Card
The card may be used as a reloadable debit card. If you wish to do this you can load funds on to the card at the reloading stations located in the Macquarie University Library.
The card initially has no value loaded. To add funds to the card insert the card card into the autoloader in the Library and follow the instructions on the screen. After funds are added a receipt is issued.
Once charged with funds the card may be used for photocopying, network printing and purchase of small value items.
For photocopying, insert the card into the card reader attached to the photocopier, put your work on the copier glass and press the start button. Each page will take value off the card. When finished press a button on the card reader to retrieve your card.
For network printing, you will need to select the print job from the queue of waiting jobs. The total value of the job is displayed. Insert the card into the card reader attached to the network print station and the job will be printed, debiting the card at the same time. When finished press a button on the card reader to retrieve your card.
For purchasing small items, hand your card to the operator who will insert it into the Point of Sale machine and key in a price or select a stock item. Funds will be deducted from the card and it will be returned to you.
