Campus Card - Card Care
Your campus card should be kept in good condition during your candidature. Your card is expected to last 3 to 4 years with good care. The following points should be noted.
Photo, Barcode and general condition
- The card should be stored carefully in such as way as it will not become scratched or damaged.
- Do not insert the card into other card readers apart from the authorised Unicard readers at Macquarie University.
- If the barcode is scratched or obscured then it may not read correctly on the Library barcode readers.
- Apart from the card holders signature on the back no other writing should be on the card.
- Do not bend the card.
- Do not expose the card to heat nor leave it in a car parked in the sun.
Magnetic Stripe
- The high coercity magnetic stripe is resistant to damage or erasure however care it still needed.
- Do not scratch the magnetic stripe.
- Do not expose the card to magnetic fields which may damage the signal on the card. Magnetic fields to avoide include:
- Televisions and computer monitors
- Stereo speakers
- Magnets
- Electric motors
Security
- Keep your card secure on your person at all times when you are on campus.
- You may be asked by authorised persons to present your card at any time you are on campus.
- If your card is lost you should immediately report it to Borrowing Enquiries on level 2 in the Library or phone (02) 9850 7500.
